Learning at Growing Communities
We are delighted to be able to offer two learning opportunities this year:
-
to schools through our Learning to Grow project
-
to adults interested in developing their organic growing skills
We’d love to hear from you if you are interested in other learning activities we could provide here at Growing Communities, we’re very keen to develop our learning programme.
Learning to Grow
We have funding from the Big Lottery's Awards For All grant to help us deliver 60 workshops to Hackney schools over the next year. These workshops, which are taking place on our market gardens here in Hackney, help young people in the borough learn more about food growing. We are taking bookings from primary schools be sure to book your school in now by emailing us at learning@growingcommunities.org We also opened bookings to secondary schools from the beginning of June 2011.
Join us for a 2 hour interactive workshop, delivered by 2 members of the Growing Communities team, at our Allens Gardens site. This includes a tour of the site; 2 x 30 minute activities (choice of composting, planting and seasonality / food miles); resource materials / extension activities to take away; and the use of the space for a snack / lunch before or after the session.
Prices & Booking
With the funding, we will be able to offer the workshops at £1 per pupil. Please email learning@growingcommunities.org or call us on 07960 469 224 if you would like to arrange an on-site workshop. Please let us know the year group you would like to bring, the number of children and some suggested dates.
