Swede braised in cider

Ingredients

  • 250g swede, peeled and cut into large chunks
  • 200ml cider
  • 1 chicken stock cube (or vegetable if preferred)
  • 50g sultanas
  • 1 tbs sesame seeds
  • pinch chilli powder
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 50g cheddar, grated, to serve

Method

Place all the ingredients except the cheese into a saucepan. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the swede is tender. To serve, place into a serving dish and sprinkle over the grated cheese.
