How to apply to the 2012 start up programme
If you are interested in setting up a community-led box scheme using the Growing Communities Model, and if you want to join our Start-up Programme, then you should:
- Read as much of this website as you need to
- Start discussing it with others who could be involved.
- Check the timetable for the Start-up Programme (below) and that you can attend the free 4th July Start up Workshop
- In order to attend the 4th July Workshop, you will need to download and complete an expression of interest form and send to growcommstartups@gmail.com by 5.00pm 15th June.
Timetables and deadlines for 2012 Start-up programme
- April to June 2012: We actively look for individuals and groups interested in joining Phase 3 of the Start-up Progamme
- May: An Expression of Interest Form becomes available to download
- June : Completed electronic 'Expressions of Interest' are returned to Growing Communities by 5.00pm 15th June.
- 4th July Introductory Workshop: This takes place in Hackney and all those wanting to apply to the Start-up Programme must attend. You need to ensure a key member of your team would be able to come to the workshop. We may have more than one place per group but will be clearer about this once we have seen the completed Expressions of Interest.
- Between July and end of September: This is the essential planning and application phase. Groups complete a Box Scheme Plan with supporting financials and a self-assessment checklist.
- October: up to six groups will be invited to join the Start-up Programme after signing an Memorandum of Understanding with Growing Communities and paying the £450 deposit.
- Nov/Dec 2012: Growing Communities run key training sessions for 2 - 3 members of each start-up group. These will take place in Hackney. Groups are then given access to the Growing Communities start up members website and toolkit
- From June 2013: new community-led box schemes start trading
You never know. Together we might just be able to build an alternative food system that can feed us all!
